Barcelona remain hopeful of signing Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, but they are now considering alternatives which include Reds’ target Thomas Lemar.
The Spanish club have already had three bids for midfielder Coutinho, 25, turned down.
With the transfer window set to shut on Thursday, they now have a Plan B which includes Monaco midfielder Lemar and Juventus forward Paulo Dybala.
Liverpool have prepared a bid of £60m for France international Lemar.
Barcelona, 24-time La Liga champions, had their potent forward partnership of Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi broken earlier this month when Paris St-Germain lured Neymar away after paying the 222m euros release clause.
The La Liga giants completed the signingof forward Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund for £135.5m last week, but are hoping to bring in “one or two” more players before the window shuts.
Barcelona technical director Robert Fernandez said at the weekend: “I won't go into names but I admit that the club is working on the possibility of signing new players.”
